Dermal Filler Injections

Dermal filler injections are a type of nonsurgical cosmetic procedure used to plump up wrinkles, smooth lines and restore volume in your face. Dermal fillers can enhance facial features or be used to gain a more youthful appearance. This treatment takes less than hour, and recovery time is minimal. Results are seen right away and last months to years, depending on the type of filler and the location.

As you age, your body starts to lose collagen. Decreased amounts of collagen in skin causes skin laxity (loose skin) and loss of volume. Skin becomes thinner, loses its elasticity and starts to sag. Dermal fillers can thus be used to add volume to sagging skin, make facial features more symmetrical, plump up lips and cheeks, and smooth wrinkles and creases in the face. â€‹

Is it safe?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance present in the skin and the product itself is considered very safe. However, unlike any medical procedure, they can come with potential side effects, which include swelling, bruising, redness, pain or discomfort and itching.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The results are temporary, lasting 6-12 months depending on several factors, such as metabolism, lifestyle area treatment. The body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles.

What does the procedure involve?

Prior to your treatment, a thorough consultation and medical history is required to assess treatment suitability. An examination of the area to be treated will be performed, determining an appropriate treatment plan. You will be advised on what product and how much filler will be required to achieve the desired outcome.

The area will then be cleaned and a topical anaesthetic cream may be applied. The filler will be injected into the area, either by a needle or cannula.

Depending on the treatment area(s) and amount of hyaluronic acid used, treatment time will be between 30-50 minutes. Following your procedure, the practitioner may massage the area and then clean the skin and provide you with post-treatment instructions.
